I am Marshall

Born on February22, 2008, Marshall was leading a nice life in the Austin area until he was hit by a car in April 2009. The good folks at Hound Rescue arranged for a surgery to repair a break in his pelvis and then matched him with us as soon as they knew we were looking again.

Ouch! Here is the proof of Marshall's injury. His surgery included use of a plate to help things heal just right. Marshall's foster mother Denise made sure his recovery was monitored well from the beginning and he is doing great.

We picked him up from San Antonio last night. By the time we got back to Austin there was only enough day light for one or two sniff circles around the back yard before all light was gone. Marshall has taken to his new house pretty well so far with only a few whimpers on his first night. The wall-mounted dog door (two flaps because of its depth) was not even a challenge for him.

He got us up early this morning and we went on a short walk to the school in our neighborhood (less than a block away). Marshall also got a trip to the pet store for a nail clipping and to sniff out some new treats before heading back home for his first test of the new crate he will use while we are not around.

Here are some good pics from the first day. We'll post more after next week's trip to Paca and Gamma's house.

Gama and Bethany are anxious to meet the new grand dog. He could not have found a better home.
