Two Weeks (Die Worms! Die!)

Just a quick note to let folks know that Scarlett went to the vet yesterday for a quick two-week check up for her heart worm treatment. Her lungs are clear, which is great news. That means she is doing well...and that Lori and I have been doing our job, keeping her from getting too excited. We will we back at the vet in two weeks for round #2 of the treatment.

Fraud!

"Octopuses are characterized by their eight arms..." Wikipedia would not lie to me! So, I must declare that Octy, which we acquired from the local pet store, is in fact a fraud.

Don't take my word for it. There are only five legs there. Even though they each have a squeaker in them, plus the one in the head and another in the main body, that only makes seven squeaks. Still, not enough.

Scarlett seems to like him anyway, although he is still not as popular as "Lady Hedge," a camera-shy plush toy that sports eye shadow and mascara. Don't ask, that was Lori's pick!

Other news: we are about a week and a half out from the first treatment and still doing very well. A few coughs here and there but nothing major. The shaking also seems to have stopped for the most part. Yesterday I finished putting the extra wood around the bottom of the fence so we hope to limit interest in digging, which has so far not been present.

Scarlett did meet Buddy, the cat from next door. It was late (just before bed) and he was hiding behind the tool shed until we came along. He made a quick run for the front gate and then sat on it and watched us as we made the usual rounds. He taunts Scarlett...for now.

Here is a picture of Scarlett helping Lori with her latest grad school paper...something about how poor kids taste just as good as rich kids when they are learning their ABC's in programs like pre-K and Head Start.

Scarlett's greatest help is kicking you in the side every few minutes to make sure you are not sleeping when you are supposed to be reading and/or typing.

...and one more picture, just because, of a cute little beagle asleep on the couch. Everyone should have one of these, right?
